Abu Ghraib, October 20, 2002

Shortly after state-run Iraqi television announced that President Saddam Hussein was giving amnesty to all inmates in Iraqi jails, friends and relatives of inmates converged on the Abu Ghraib prison. Thousands pushed past guards and entered the compound, where the were met by released prisoners.

In the courtyard of the prison, friends and relatives of inmates chanted, sang and danced. Most of the chants and songs praised Hussein.
